Five of you fit in one room.
From the sixth person, you search differently.
At the park's official hotels, five adults could be booked on all 14 dates we checked, while six adults came back empty on all 14 dates at four of the five official hotels. In practice the ceiling is five. If your sixth person is of elementary-school age or younger, the rules let you add them as a child sharing a bed; if they are in junior high or older, you either move outside the park or go for the one room that takes six as they are — the Concept Room at Hotel Den Haag.

Room capacities and facilities below are compiled neutrally from each hotel's official information. The property photos are supplied by Rakuten Travel.
The main pointThe official hotels stop at five in practice
Here is the conclusion. At the official Huis Ten Bosch hotels you can get "five people in one room". But the ceiling is effectively five, and from the sixth person the way you search for a room changes completely. (There is one exception among the five official hotels. We come back to it below.)
Two parents and three or four children, or six or seven of you once grandparents come along. Have you ever found a room marked "sleeps 6" on a booking site and felt relieved? That relief is only half justified. Behind the same "6" sit properties that let you add bed-sharing children on top of the stated capacity, and properties where six is the hard stop with those children included.
On identical terms (one night, one room, N adults) we measured on Rakuten Travel whether that party size could actually be booked. We followed 14 dates at fortnightly intervals and went through them three times on different days. The second pass gave the same answer; on the third we reproduced the result that four of the official hotels return zero out of 14 for six adults, and added Hotel Den Haag, which we had not covered at first.
| Property | Five adults | Six adults |
|---|---|---|
| Forest Villa Huis Ten Bosch | 14 of 14 dates | 0 of 14 |
| Hotel Europe Huis Ten Bosch | 14 of 14 | 0 of 14 |
| Hotel Rotterdam Huis Ten Bosch | 14 of 14 | 0 of 14 |
| Hotel Amsterdam Huis Ten Bosch | 0 of 14 (the largest party we could book was four adults) | 0 of 14 |
| Hotel Den Haag Huis Ten Bosch | 5 of 14 | 5 of 14 (one Concept Room plan only) |
| Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch (outside the park, by the station) | 12 of 14 | 0 of 14 |
What falls away is the sixth person. Up to five the green bars run almost to the end; the moment you ask for six, four of the official hotels drop to zero at once. This is not one hotel's scheduling — the room designs line up at the same point. The one exception is Hotel Den Haag, where only the Concept Room came through for six adults (and only on 5 of the 14 dates, on a single plan, "6pm check-in short stay with breakfast", and this room does not allow bed-sharing children at all).
Widen the area and the story changes. Across Rakuten Travel's "Huis Ten Bosch, Sasebo and Hirado" area, 20 to 39 properties can be booked even for six adults. In other words, the six-adult options only disappear once you narrow to "near Huis Ten Bosch". For reference, counting one night in one room for a Saturday check-in in mid-December: 79 properties for two adults, 60 for four, 41 for five, 28 for six and 8 for eight (as of September 2026; counting the same conditions the previous day gave 78, 58, 40, 28 and 8, so the counts move by one or two every day).
We have written about the same "options thin out as the party grows" problem in Hokkaido. See Where a large family sleeps in one room in Niseko and Rusutsu.
The fork in the roadTwo ways to solve the sixth person
In short: if your sixth person is of elementary-school age or younger, you can add them as a child sharing a bed (five adults plus two children equals seven). That fits the official rules, and the Rakuten Travel availability search also went through for seven. From junior high they no longer qualify, so you either move outside the park or aim for the Concept Room at Hotel Den Haag.
1. Add a child sharing a bed Officially confirmed
The official Huis Ten Bosch page on hotel-guest benefits states: "With one adult in the room, up to one child may share a bed; with two or more adults in the room, up to two children may share a bed free of charge. The maximum is two children sharing a bed per room." The conditions are elementary-school age or younger, and no bedding of their own. So a room for five becomes five adults plus two children, seven in all.
2. Move outside the park
From junior high, children no longer qualify as bed-sharers. You either split into two rooms or go outside the park. The properties that took six adults on all 14 dates were the ones outside. The only way through among the official hotels is the Den Haag Concept Room, available on 5 of the 14 dates and from 15,900 yen per person — three times the outside option.
The booking form has its own quirk
Rakuten Travel's plan wording says the same thing in its own way: for a bed-sharing child "aged 4 to elementary school", you must select "infant: no meals, no bedding" when booking. You do not add them to the number of guests.
- Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch words it differently: "children up to 12 (elementary school), a maximum of two per room, may share a bed free of charge" — with no "one per adult" restriction written in
- Because the cut-off is a school year rather than a birthday, some properties express it as an age instead. Check the exact cut-off with the property before you book
- ⚠ Even among the official hotels there are exceptions by room type. The same official page notes that "bed sharing is not available in the Concept Room, Standard Semi-double or Loft Semi-double at Hotel Den Haag" and that "in the Superior View at Hotel Den Haag with three adults, only one child may share a bed". Official does not automatically mean you can add children (as of September 2026)
The same "sleeps 6" can mean the opposite
In short: the official hotels stack bed-sharing children on top of the stated capacity, while the whole-house rental outside the park counts them inside it. Read the same number the wrong way round and you will not find out until the day you arrive.
| Item | Official hotels (Forest Villa and others) | Rakuten STAY HOUSE x WILL STYLE Sasebo |
|---|---|---|
| Stated room capacity | 2–5 people | Up to 6 people (children sharing a bed included) |
| Children sharing a bed | Up to two can be added outside the capacity (elementary-school age or younger) | Counted inside the capacity |
| Availability for six adults | 0 of 14 dates | 14 of 14 dates |
| If you exceed it | — | "If the capacity is exceeded, we will cancel your reservation even after it has been confirmed" |
So even where it says "up to six", one means six people plus bed-sharing children, and the other means six including them. Given that one of them states in writing that a confirmed reservation will still be cancelled, this is not a line to skim past.
We have collected the etiquette of staying in a whole-house rental — rubbish, check-out, luggage — in a separate article. See Rubbish sorting, check-out and luggage: what to know before a whole-house stay in Japan.
Main booking linksThree options for a party of five
In short: for up to five people the most straightforward choice is Forest Villa. The reason is not only the space and the price — it is where it stands.
Rakuten Travel
Forest Villa Huis Ten Bosch Official page and booking page checked
Officially "a hotel of two-storey cottages standing by the lake in a quiet forest" / Harbour Zone, free to enter
- A living room downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs, as a maisonette. With five people, one bed is an extra bed 110 cm wide (official, as of September 2026)
- 81,500 yen for five adults, that is 16,300 yen each (a Saturday in mid-December, one night in one room, room-only on the Sakitoku 55 advance plan; checked on Rakuten Travel as of September 2026)
- The same conditions move by a factor of 2.5 depending on the date. Across the 14 dates the cheapest came to between 8,925 and 22,900 yen per person
- 🔴 It is in the Harbour Zone, which is free to enter, so you can check in before buying a park ticket. Arrive early and you can still drop your bags and rest (the same is true of Hotel Europe and Hotel Den Haag)
- You reach your room without walking hotel corridors, which takes some of the strain out of the hours when children are loud
Hotel Europe Huis Ten Bosch
Inside the park, Harbour Zone, free to enter
- Connecting rooms, 74–78 m², for 3–5 people (official) — normally two twin rooms joined internally.
- The actual figure was 165,000 yen for five adults, that is 33,000 yen each (a Saturday in mid-December, one night in one room, room-only on the Sakitoku 55 advance plan; as of September 2026)
- That is 83,500 yen more than Forest Villa. With seven of you getting ready in the morning it earns its keep, but the gap is not small
- One of the few properties named on the official benefits page as eligible for the free airport bus from Nagasaki Airport
The third option is Hotel Rotterdam. A Japanese-style Deluxe room, 34 m², for 2–5 people, at 96,000 yen for five adults, that is 19,200 yen each (a Saturday in late December, one night in one room, breakfast included; as of September 2026).
The official wording is that "with futons laid on the low platform, the room takes up to five", so the fifth person goes on a futon added to the beds. That is realistic for families who are happy sleeping on tatami, but note that it is less than half the size of the 77 m² cottage.
As for the free airport bus from Nagasaki Airport, the only properties named on the official benefits page are Hotel Europe and three room types at Hotel Amsterdam (Deluxe Designer Room, Miffy Room and Chocolate Room). The official access page words it as "for guests staying at Hotel Europe or in specified rooms at Hotel Amsterdam only", so Forest Villa, Hotel Den Haag and Hotel Rotterdam are not eligible (reservations close at 17:00 three days before use, and groups of ten or more cannot use it). That said, what the transfer saves you is the local bus fare from Nagasaki Airport: for four adults and two elementary-school children that is 7,500 yen one way, 15,000 yen return (Saihi Bus official fares). It does not close an 83,500-yen gap.
Routes from the airports and the real cost for six people are covered in the transport article. See Getting to Huis Ten Bosch from Fukuoka and Nagasaki airports.
Secondary optionsTwo properties outside the park took six adults
In short: if six of you include someone in junior high or older, only two properties within driving distance of Huis Ten Bosch took six adults on all 14 dates (Hotel Den Haag, above, stops at five dates). If you can self-cater, Rakuten STAY HOUSE x WILL STYLE Sasebo; if you need meals included, Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Saikaibashi.
Per person at Rakuten STAY HOUSE x WILL STYLE Sasebo, 30,000 yen for six adults.
The official Forest Villa works out at 16,300 yen (for five adults).
Rakuten Travel
- Units 101 and 102, a whole 3LDK house, Japanese-Western rooms, 70 m², up to 6 people (children sharing a bed included). Two double beds plus futons, and a full kitchen
- The actual figure was 30,000 yen for six adults, that is 5,000 yen each (a Saturday in late December, one night in one room, room-only at 30% off on the Sakitoku 28 advance plan; as of September 2026)
- Availability was 14 of 14 dates for six adults. Of everything we checked, only two properties within driving distance of Huis Ten Bosch came through for six adults
- It is in Sakioka-cho, Sasebo, about seven minutes by car from Huis Ten Bosch. But the next-day 1-Day Passport perk belongs to the official hotels, so it does not apply here
The other property, Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Saikaibashi, has a 42 m² Japanese-Western room (the "Fourth" room type) at 94,800 yen for six adults, that is 15,800 yen each (a Saturday in late December, one night in one room, with dinner and breakfast, with a 5% sale discount applied; as of September 2026). That includes meals, which makes it the comparison point for families who will not be cooking.
Rakuten Travel's property information mentions "a shuttle bus from Huis Ten Bosch (advance reservation required)". ⚠ However, we could not confirm how often it runs, at what times, or on what conditions. Please check with the property when you book.

Compare places to stay around Huis Ten Bosch
For those who want to look beyond these two before deciding. You can compare the official hotels inside the park and the properties within driving distance on a map. Inside or outside the park changes how bed-sharing children are counted, so seeing where things sit makes the decision quicker.
The bigger the party, the more it countsThe real reason to stay official is the next day's ticket
In short: stay at one of the five official hotels and you are handed the "next-day 1-Day Passport" at reception for your second day onwards. Children sharing a bed are included.
- The five official hotels are Hotel Europe, Hotel Amsterdam, Hotel Den Haag, Forest Villa and Hotel Rotterdam (the official benefits page and the official announcements agree)
- The official wording is "guests who purchase a passport for their first day of entry will be presented with a passport valid the following day at the hotel reception", and it names the eligible ticket types as "1-Day Passport and After 3 Passport". In other words, even if you buy only an After 3 Passport for an evening arrival on day one, you still receive the full day's ticket for the next day
- Children sharing a bed (aged 4 to 12) are also eligible, and on longer stays you receive one for each day of the stay
- ⚠ Hotel Amsterdam alone hands them over differently: "on presentation of that day's passport at check-in, we will give you one for each day of your stay from the second day onwards"
- Pushchair hire is 1,000 yen per use (800 yen for members), but guests of the five official hotels can use one for their whole stay for a single charge (official FAQ, as of September 2026)
We do not give the per-person ticket price in this article. Ticket types and the total for six people are covered in the one-day itinerary article. What we can say here is only the shape of it: this is a perk that counts for more the larger your party is. We put the day together in A one-day Huis Ten Bosch plan for a large family.
Four things to check before you press book
These are the parts we could not verify, or where the dates themselves are risky.
The park closes from 12 to 15 January 2027
🔴 The park is closed from Tuesday 12 January to Friday 15 January 2027, and the five official hotels are closed from the 11 January check-out through to the 16 January check-in. The hotels are shut a day longer at each end, so families travelling in winter should steer around this.
A search for seven goes through, but that is not a guarantee
Rakuten Travel's availability search came through for five adults plus two bed-sharing children, seven in all, at the same price as five adults (measured September 2026). But it goes through the same way for three bed-sharing children, which breaks the rules — booking sites only look at how many people need bedding. We did not go beyond the booking form. If seven of you are travelling, contact the property directly before you book.
Both prices and property counts move day to day
While researching Lake Kawaguchi, the price of the same room on the same dates moved from 137,700 to 141,950 yen in five days. The counts move more — the number of properties in the area on identical terms went from 78 to 79 and 58 to 60 in a single day. The figures above are measurements "as of September 2026", not the price you will be quoted.
The perk itself could change
The official benefits page carries the note that "the details stated here are subject to change". If you are planning your dates around the next-day 1-Day Passport, check the official page again when you book. The conditions of the shuttle bus at Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Saikaibashi also remain unconfirmed. Rather than changing services with luggage for six, it is often more practical to send your bags ahead from the airport or station, so see Sending luggage ahead in Japan: the hands-free courier guide as well.
Huis Ten Bosch large-family accommodation FAQ
Can six of us sleep in one room at Huis Ten Bosch?
Yes, if your sixth person is of elementary-school age or younger (five adults plus two bed-sharing children, seven at most; this fits the official bed-sharing rules and the Rakuten Travel availability search also went through for seven, measured September 2026 — but booking sites do not verify the number of bed-sharing children, so contact the property before you book). With six that include someone in junior high or older, the official hotels returned zero out of 14 dates for six adults. In that case you are looking for a whole-house rental outside the park (up to six, children sharing a bed included). All of these are measurements for one night in one room, checked on Rakuten Travel as of September 2026.
Should we stay inside the park or outside it?
It comes down to your party size and the age of your sixth person. For up to five, Forest Villa inside the park (77 m², 16,300 yen each) is the straightforward choice. For six including someone in junior high or older, the 3LDK outside the park (5,000 yen each) is the workable answer (both one night in one room, checked on Rakuten Travel as of September 2026; they move with the date). Whether you want to travel after the evening illuminations is another reason to choose inside the park.
Why does the same "up to six" mean different things at different properties?
Because whether bed-sharing children are stacked on top of the capacity or counted inside it differs from property to property. The official Huis Ten Bosch hotels state that "with two or more adults in the room, up to two children may share a bed free of charge", so a room for five stretches to seven on paper. The whole-house rental outside the park says "up to six people including children sharing a bed", and states in writing that anything over that will be cancelled even after the booking is confirmed. Read the small print, not the number. For rooms for six around Tokyo Disney, see Hotels near Tokyo Disney that sleep six in one room.
Do park tickets get cheaper if we stay at an official hotel?
You are handed the "next-day 1-Day Passport" at reception for your second day onwards, and children sharing a bed are included. But you still have to buy your own ticket for the day you check in (at the Harbour Zone properties you can at least check in first and buy afterwards). Ticket types and the real total for six people are covered in the one-day itinerary article.
The ceiling is five. The fork is the age of your sixth
Up to five, the 77 m² cottage inside the park; for six including someone in junior high or older, the 3LDK outside it. The same "six" means different things, so read down to the small print before you book.
Prices change with the date, so check the latest figures on the booking page. Always declare everyone's age when you book.
